The graph above shows different ways of dealing with a conflict. The model including "direct competition", "avoiding", "compromising", "accommodating" and "collaboration" is created by Thomas Killmann. "Indirect competition" is mentioned by Amy Gallo. I myself added "exit" as an option.

Avoiding: You basically do not deal with a conflict. Postponing to discuss an issue is an example.

Direct competition: You use your power to show that you are right.

Compromising: You seek a middle-ground solution where both or all parties sacrifice.

Accommodating: You yield to another person's point of view although you do not agree with that person.

Collaboration: You try to satisfy your own interests as well as those of others.

Indirect competition: For instance, instead of discussing an issue with your counterpart, you take the issue to his/her manager.

Exit: You exit your project, manager, team or your company. You are not any more in the relationship. In 'avoiding', you stay in the relationship.
